Mixed media, painting
I have come to painting rather late in life. I didn't pick up a brush until I was 70,having had no tuition! I practised as a physiotherapist and put any artistic talent I had, into designing my various gardens, using colour, texture and form to create beautiful vistas. When we moved to Wales, I was inspired to paint, seeing the wonderful sunrises and moonlight over the mountains.
I had some success during my first year. I was hung in the Design Centre in London as a "beginner"; was shortlisted for the RWA exhibition in Bristol; was hung in MOMA in Wales and was successful in various local exhibitions. During Covid and lockdown I looked at lots of art online and was inspired to paint in a more contemporary way.
I am now 82 and absolutely delighted to become a member of Chiswick Artists at Home. Because I was a "late" starter, I am still really enjoying experimenting with different styles. ....from moonlit mountains to abstract canvases. I hope to show how my art is progressing over the next months. If I can do this at my age, I would say to anyone who yearns to paint, Do it Now! I wish I had started decades ago!
