Digital images, mixed media, painting, photography
As a former professional dancer and the last decades also as dance teacher, mentor, choreographer, my creative voice relates strongly to a sense of movement, qualities of light, curiousity, and interest in finding beauty in the unusual. On paper, canvas, stone, and board, I have enjoyed working with oils, inks, acrylics, watercolours, pastels, chalk, and pencils. The last years I was drawn to an exploration of watercolours; using them like oils or acrylics, therefore creating a different effect. This Spring I am embarking on a special project with acrylics so hopefully I will be able to add these to my page here in time for the AAH open studios weekend. My crazy collages, assemblages, and boxes are fanciful, colourful, and quirky and made from collected objects and images. I am obsessed with recycling, so this drive is apparent in how these pieces come to life.
As the daughter of a well-known photographer, this art form is strongly is in my blood, my being, and brings me great joy and groundedness. I tend to photograph on a daily basis, noticing what is around me and loving light, shadows, dance and nature. I am always on the lookout for a special moment and my camera, lenses, and phone are always at hand. My photographs have ranged from work with Instant film to Kodak film, to handmade black and white prints, to the digital world, encompassing and exploring many diverse subjects.
The homemade cards line aka 'omemade kards has been in circulation for decades and my eclectic creative portfolio extends over four decades.
Playing with discovery, exploration, observation, imagination, and freedom via my creativity helps to keep me thriving, inspired, and focused. I hope that those viewing or purchasing my art might find similar gifts!
