Oil Painting and Drawing
My style is bold, lively and dynamic, painting primarily from photographs, sketches and life. I enjoy working to a commission brief, collaborating with clients to create paintings that tell a shared story. My curiosity is in exploring narrative in a representational, yet painterly, way. I love the work of Jennifer Packer and Caroline Walker and think my interest in painting was shaped early on by Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth and Richard Estes. I studied art at the College of William and Mary in Virginia and more recently at the Art Academy and Heatherley's School of Fine Art in London.

Testimonials:
"I had the pleasure of working with Sandy for a piece I commissioned in Summer 2021. I was impressed that Sandy listened to and also (most importantly) acted upon my wishes. The finished painting was definitely what I had imagined and I had a hard time giving it to my friend, I wanted to keep it for myself!"

"There’s a tale behind each and every one of Sandy’s paintings. I own two of her works and love the story behind each of them."

"My husband has always loved the view of our house in early evening with the lights on. I had an image to give to Sandy though it was a little dark, so she asked for some further images in daylight. I explained to Sandy that I loved the dark blue of the night sky and she was able to capture the essence of the view. I gave the painting to my husband as a birthday gift and it now hangs in pride of place in our hall for all to see and for us to enjoy in a daily basis. Sandy created a truly unique gift to treasure."

"Sandy was an absolute pleasure to work with. She took the time to understand the background behind our desired painting, and was thoughtful and artistic in her interpretation of a landscape that holds significant meaning to us. The painting hangs in a place of honour in our home and is often asked about by friends that visit."
